107.1 Discuss the Support Equipment (SE) Training And Licensing Program.
Improper use of SE has resulted in excessive ground handling mishaps, repair and replacement costs amounting to millions of dollars annually, and reduced operational readiness. All personnel operating SE must be fully knowledgeable and having qualified personnel makes this possible. SE operator licenses are valid for type equipment and aircraft for 3 years, regardless of activity assigned.
107.2 State the primary fire extinguisher used on the flight line during fueling operations.
The primary flight line extinguishers are 150-pound wheeled Halon 1211 fire extinguishers. PKP extinguishers are acceptable.
107.3 Identify and discuss the purpose of the following support equipment (SE):
NC-10C:
A 4 wheel, trailer mounted, electrical generating system designed for shore based servicing, starting, and maintenance of aircraft. The NC-10C is 10 feet long, 5 feet 4 inches wide, 3 feet 7 inches high and weighs 6600 pounds.
NC-8A:
The NC-8A Mobile Electrical Power Plant is a 4-wheel, electrically propelled, single seat, front wheel steer, rear wheel drive vehicle. It provides power for servicing, starting, and maintenance of aircraft. This unit is used primarily at shore stations.
Nitrogen servicing unit A/M26U (NAN-4):
The NAN-4 Nitrogen Servicing Unit provides a mobile source of compressed nitrogen to recharge aircraft nitrogen systems. The NAN-4 is used to service tires, struts and brake accumulators.
MMG-1A:
The MMG-1A is a small, compact, trailer mounted, electric motor-driven generator set. It is used both aboard ship and ashore.
107.4 Discuss the cold weather procedures.
Safe airplane operation in cold weather conditions can cause special problems. These problems occur because of the effects of the ice, snow, slush, frost, and low temperatures. Maintenance persons must know the effect of cold weather to keep the costs and time to a minimum.
107.5 Discuss the requirements for high wind condition mooring.
Local practice is to put 1 plane in the hanger and fly the other planes to a location out of the high wind threat area.
107.6 Discuss the precautions for approaching an aircraft with the anti-collision lights on.
Anti-collision lights shall be used immediately before engine start and at all times when the aircraft engine(s) is in operation, except when the use of such lights adversely affects ground operations. Anti-collision lights consist of the following:
Do NOT approach aircraft until cleared by maintenance control, responsible ground personnel or flight crew.
